When the sun sets over the Sangre de Cristo mountains in southern Colorado, the whole world turns pink for a few minutes. It is a surreal phenomena that transforms the landscape into a magical place.
While the real reason is apparently the iron ore content of the mountains, I prefer to think of it as a gift from the goddess.
This piece is based on the views captured in the San Luis Valley of Southern Colorado, and the quality of light that gives this mountain range the name, Sangre de Cristos, or Blood of Christ mountains.
